Practice Group Leader
Ruth is a passionate and dedicated personal injury lawyer who handles Compensation claims in a variety of areas, including motor vehicle claims, professional negligence claims and public liability claims.
Ruth also represents victims of sexual abuse and refugees who have been mistreated whilst in mandatory immigration detention. She has both a Bachelor of Laws (Honors class 1) and a Bachelor of Communications degree.
Ruth joined Stacks Goudkamp in 2010 and now manages one of the firms five Practice Groups.
Ruth is passionate about protecting human rights and before becoming a lawyer she was employed by international development organisation World Vision, working both in Australia and overseas. She was also employed as a casual academic at the University of Newcastle.
Ruth is known and loved by her clients for her down-to-earth nature and warm personality and for always being there for them at any time of day (or night!), seven days a week.
Not only does Ruth have client’s here in Australia, she has also handled cases for overseas visitors who have been injured in Australia whilst visiting for a holiday or to work or study. For example she has acted for overseas clients from India, Israel, Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom and South Korea.
When Ruth is not in the office or out on the road seeing her clients, she loves to be outdoors, going hiking, camping or swimming in the ocean. She’s a vegan, practices yoga and meditates daily and so is often referred to as the office “hippy”.
Ruth is passionate about supporting her injured clients and their families and takes great pride in preparing their personal injury claims so that they receive the compensation they so deserve.
