On Friday 12 February 2016, a number of our workers compensation lawyers attended the Workers Compensation Independent Review Office (WIRO) Seminar 2016. This seminar revolved around the impact of the legislative changes that occurred in the workers compensation field in 2015.

Along with a delightful morning tea and lunch, the lawyers were treated to informative presentations on the changes that were implemented in 2015 regarding permanent impairment and lump sum payments, medical expenses and weekly payments, and the various impacts these have on workers compensation claims.

Interestingly, representatives from all sides of the scheme presented their perspectives and views on the changes, and on the workers compensation scheme in general. WIRO also provided insight into the necessary documents and criteria required to be successful in an application for legal funding for a workers compensation claim.

As well as the presentations, the seminar provided a wonderful opportunity for our workers compensation lawyers to network and gain an insight into the different minds of the workers compensation world.
