Our client was an experienced and dedicated police officer expose to numerous horrific events during the course of his employment as a result of which he sustained psychological injury and was medically retired. We successfully pursued lump sum claims for permanent impairment. Liability for work injury damages was denied but we successfully pursued this claim through the court resulting a substantial settlement in our client’s favour. We also successfully pursued claims for total and permanent disablement benefits through our client’s superannuation fund.
An off duty Police officer on a motor cycle was struck by a car doing a U-turn. Liability was hotly contested by the insurer and it was necessary to engage several reconstruction and biomechanical experts to give evidence in relation to the circumstances of the accident. Our client was rendered a paraplegic but was able to resume work with re-training to be a Police Prosecutor. The case settled for several million dollars.
Our client, as a result of many dedicated years of service with NSW Police, suffered physical and psychological injuries. We successfully pursued claims for lump sum payments for permanent impairment arising out of both physical and psychological injuries.
Our client was employed as a paramedic with NSW Ambulance Service up to 2001 and was exposed to significant noise levels during that period. He recently consulted us seeking compensation for his hearing loss. Medical evidence was obtained substantiating significant hearing loss. The insurer did not respond to the claim so we proceeded through the Workers Compensation Commission and our client was awarded a lump sum payment and the cost of hearing aids.
