High Court Rules That A Permanent Stay In Institutional Abuse Case Would In Effect, Bring The Administration Of Justice Into Disrepute

On Wednesday 1 November 2023, the High Court of Australia allowed a woman, GLJ to have her day in a court. After protracted, time consuming and costly legal arguments, GLJ has finally been given the green light to have her day in Court and in doing so, has set a landmark decision that all historical child sexual abuse survivors welcome.

Media Coverage Highlights Extraordinary Legal Tactics Used by Institutions

In May 2023, a month before GLJs appeal was heard, our abuse lawyer, Alessandra Pettit was featured on Four Corners’ expose, hiding behind tombstones where ABCs Louise Milligan highlighted the extraordinary legal tactics that institutions are utilising to stop survivors even having the chance to have their day in a court.
