Almost two years to the day since the Tasmanian government announced there would be a commission of inquiry (COI) to examine a litany of horrific allegations of child sexual abuse in state institutions, victim-survivors will today receive a formal apology from parliament.
In those two years, the commission heard harrowing evidence from people who were abused as children — children who were admitted to the paediatric ward at the Launceston General Hospital, children at state schools, children living in foster homes that were the responsibility of the state, and children who were sent to the Ashley Youth Detention Centre.
The team at Stacks Goudkamp offer trauma informed practices to assist survivors of intuitional abuse. If you or someone you know has been impacted by institutional child sexual abuse, then please contact Stacks Goudkamp for a free, no obligation and confidential conversation on 02 9237 2222 or toll free on 1800 251 800.
