Hit and Run Injury Compensation
Motor vehicle accidents, whether as a driver, passenger, or pedestrian, can change lives and it can particularly hard to move on when the person to blame flees the scene after a ‘hit and run’ accident.
Even though a vehicle flees the scene of an accident, you are still entitled to bring a compensation claim.
If you have the registration number of the vehicle that caused the accident, our personal injury experts at Stacks Goudkamp will trace the compulsory third party (CTP) insurer of the vehicle and submit a compensation claim to them on your behalf.
When the registration number is unknown, our specialist motor vehicle claim lawyers will make the necessary enquiries to try to trace the culpable vehicle, such as obtain the police report and put a notice in the local press.
When it is not possible to identify the vehicle to blame for a hit and run accident in NSW after due searches and enquiries have been conducted, our personal injury solicitors will submit a claim to the Nominal Defendant. This is done by sending a Personal Injury Claim Form to the Motor Accident Authority. They allocate the claim to one of NSW’s CTP insurers, who will deal with the claim as if it were brought against their own policy holder.
We will advise you on your rights to compensation and take care of the formalities in bringing a claim against the Nominal Defendant, to secure you the compensation you deserve.
Unfortunately hit and run accidents are not uncommon, and over our thirty years we have obtained compensation for numerous victims of hit and run accidents in NSW.

Hit & Run Injury Compensation Case Studies
Charlotte was 9 years old when she was struck by an unidentified car, suffering massive brain damage. The insurer alleged that she had jumped out in front of the car without warning and thus denied liability. The case went to Court and the issue of liability was successfully resolved in her favour. The claim subsequently settled, with Court approval, for many millions of dollars.
