Mark Port

Mark joined the firm as Special Counsel and brings a wealth of hands-on experience advising and advocating for clients on Employment, Industrial, and Work Health and Safety issues across a range of Commonwealth and State jurisdictions. Mark’s extensive practice experience in the above areas of law spans over 14 years and he was admitted as a lawyer in the Supreme Court of NSW in 2006. He holds an unrestricted practicing certificate, is a member of the Law Society of NSW and was registered on the High Court of Australia rolls in 2008.

Mark’s focus as a legal practitioner is to provide clients with exceptional service, brilliant solutions based offerings to solve pressing issues in a cost effective and pragmatic manner so as to help clients stay in control and on top of their game.

By way of a snapshot:

Mark successfully represented a senior employee whose employment was threatened by the employer for no valid reason. The employer sought to offer the senior employee a token amount of around $30K after 20+ years service to leave the workplace. The employer sought to short change the employee on accrued annual leave and LSL entitlements. As part of the dispute resolution process, Mark was able to secure his client a negotiated settlement of around $179K.

Mark successfully represented a pharmacy (chemist) before the Therapeutic Goods Complaints Resolution Panel regarding alleged breaches of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 and Therapeutic Goods Regulations 1990 and Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code regarding pharmacy product advertising.

Mark has successfully acted for NSW police officers facing disciplinary issues under the Police Act 1990 (NSW) including: summary removal of NSW police officers from the force; and Commissioner of Police taking action against NSW police officers for misconduct or unsatisfactory performance.

In addition to being a highly skilled and experienced lawyer, Mark has worked as a Business Law academic delivering lectures and tutorials across a range of subject areas, including: Business Law, Japanese Trade Law, Chinese Tax Law and Corporations Law.
