Stacks Goudkamp has been a longstanding supporter of Wheelchair Sports NSW, so when their 2017 Annual Luncheon came around a number of personal injury lawyers and staff from our Sydney and Liverpool office were only too delighted to attend.
The event was hosted Sports Anchor on SKY News Live, Jim Callinan. The guests heard about the great work that the charity has done in the past 12 months, and where the much-needed funds are targeted for this year. From basketball to road racing and rugby, Wheelchair Sports NSW truly opens up sporting opportunities for people with disabilities. The focus this year was on wheelchair tennis.
We were moved by stories from David Hall OAM (pictured below) who dominated wheelchair tennis finishing No 1 in the world for six years from 1995 – 2005. He won every major event in his career including gold at the Paralympics. David was inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame in 2015.
Other guest speakers included:
- Adam Kellerman who is a current wheelchair world champion tennis player and Paralympian ranking No 8 in the world.
- Helen Smith who joined WSNSW in 2015, taking up wheelchair tennis whilst in rehab. Helen has since played in two national championships.
- Chase – an 11 year old junior wheelchair tennis player and member of WSNSW since 2013.
The positive attitude, sense of humour and sporting achievements to date was inspirational.
Stacks Goudkamp is a proud supporter of the great work that Wheelchair Sports NSW do, and we are looking forward to their next successful event.
