National Walk Safely to School Day (WSTSD)
May 17, 2019 marks the 20th year of National Walk Safely to School Day (WSTSD).
This is an annual event encouraging all primary school students to walk and travel to school safely. The message is that active kids who exercise for at least an hour per day are healthy kids.
Road congestion around school zones is increasing and becoming more dangerous. Parents and carers are encouraged to make walking to and from school part of their daily routine.
It is important that everyone driving in school zones adhere to the rules to ensure that instances of injury and untimely deaths, become a thing of the past in our school communities.
Despite all the measures taken to try and ensure the safety of pedestrians, the reality is that accidents still happen. If you or somebody you care about has been injured in an accident you may be entitled to compensation.
